Exercise - Real and implied triangles 1

This exercise was to show triangular objects and compositions. It was relatively easy to find objects that are (or appear to be) triangular in the environment.

Example 1. - A triangular subject.

Pittencrieff Primary School Roof.

Example 2. - Perspective - converging to the top

Between the railway and the sea.
I then couldn't resist adding this one - the same image but altered to give a very stark contrast with almost nothing in the midtones range, to increase the effect of the shape.

Metal and light.

Example 3. - Converging perspective- inverted.

Below the Forth Road Bridge.

Project–Shapes

Shapes - due to contrast and edges.
In the examples given the Parthenon and the insect are both clear contrast of colour. The Parthenon is lit and contrasts against a very dark sky, possibly night or possibly by increasing the contrast using a NG filter,  or digitally. the insect is silhouetted against a light, also probably at night. This could be reversed by having a dark silhouette of the Parthenon against a light blue sky, and in the insect image by having the lights shining on the insect from behind the camera – not into it.
Light and therefore contrast is important in looking at shapes.
